We are always on the lookout for new members and would welcome anyone interested in joining our happy and relaxed Concert Band. There are no auditions we just need committed players with plenty of enthusiasm and at least grade 2 standard. Any wind or brass instruments are welcome however we are especially keen to hear from middle and bass instruments.

You are very welcome to come along for an informal visit on any Monday night rehearsal at Bridgtown Social Club, Walsall Rd Cannock.

A bit of History

Bridgtown Concert  Showband first appeared in 1993 as a young marching band with 18 members, however, by 1995 it had grown to an impressive 65 members, mainly brass players with some woodwinds. Today the band is a little smaller and is no longer a marching band.

1995 saw the first of two trips to the “Battle of the Flowers” held in Jersey, this event meant  playing 16 gigs in 6 days. In these early years the enthusiastic band took part in the celebration to commemorate the silver jubilee of Cannock’s twinning with Datteln in Germany. This was to be the first of the band's trips to the Datteln Kanalfest which we have performed at again in 2010.

Villa Park

Other notable events  included playing at the 1996 FA Cup semi final at Villa Park. (Manchester  United beat Chelsea 2-1 on their way to eventually winning the Final against Liverpool).

Also, there was an appearance with Sir Cliff Richard at Birmingham’s NIA, The International Tattoo held at the NIA Birmingham, The Lions Convention, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Granada Studios, Drayton Manor Park and an appearance on BBC Radio WM.

Today the band is a little smaller and is no longer a marching band.

We meet every Monday at Bridgtown Social Club in Cannock for rehearsal and we get involved with all manner of local events and fetes.

Recently we held a very successful music workshop  for members of the “Chase Day Centre” in Cannock and appeared at Stafford’s “Party in the Park”.
